Research Origins
Surgim originated from research conducted within the Morph Lab at Imperial College London. Building on advances in soft robotics and medical simulation, Surgim translates academic research into practical platforms for clinical training and medical-device development.

Morph Lab is a multidisciplinary robotics research group within Imperial College London’s Dyson School of Design Engineering, led by Professor Thrishantha Nanayakkara.
The lab explores physical intelligence, soft robotics and bio-inspired engineering, developing technologies that can safely adapt to and interact with complex environments. Its research spans robotic structures, sensing, locomotion and medical simulation.
